





Saturday October 25th Pie Making with Kate McDermott of Art of the Pie
Kate McDermott has been making and teaching pie classes since 2008 and has taught over 7,000 pie makers. She is a James Beard Nominee, and has written three pie books including Art of the Pie: A Practical Guide to Homemade Crusts, Fillings, and Life . And she has agreed to come down to the farm to teach us how to make better pies.
Kate will show us how to make an all butter dough as well as the traditional Art of the Pie leaf lard and butter dough, tips and tricks for a double crusted seasonal fall pie using apples, pears & quince, plus we will have her favorite chicken pot pie for lunch. We will also learn how to make and bake a proper blind baked crust. By the end of this class you will be ready for the holiday pie season.
