Sunday July 27th BarnTalk Claire Dederer, Chris Ballew and Cheryl Waters of KEXP
For this second BarnTalk of the summer I have brought together three of Seattle’s best cultural leaders. Each of these three have contributed for many years to the artistic life of our greater community. I invite you to the barn on July 27th to hear Claire Dederer and Chris Ballew each interviewed by Cheryl Waters.
Claire Dederer is the author of Monsters: A Fan’s Dilemma; Poser, My Life In Twenty-Three Yoga Poses and Love and Trouble: A Midlife Reckoning. In Monsters — Dederer’s latest book — she considers her favorite artists, namely Picasso, Woody Allen and Roman Polanski, trying to find a way to love their genus while at the same time condemning their unsocial actions; their monster-ness.
Chris Ballew is a musician well-known as the lead singer and bassist of The Presidents of the United States of America and also as the performer Casper Babypants. He has followed an intriguing arc of a musician from playing sold out arenas to very busy solo star playing to crowds of five year olds to his present day life of a self-described DIY hobbyist musician.
Cheryl Waters is the host of the Midday Show on KEXP radio where she has been a DJ since 1994. Cheryl has for many years been conducting in-studio interviews, contributing greatly to the musical life of the Seattle broadcast area and now through the KEXP website and YouTube channel, across the globe.
